Waterloo Library and Historical Society Updates on the activities, events, and offerings of the Waterloo Library & Historical Society The Museum was named for Waterloo resident Charles P.

The Waterloo Library and Historical Society was founded in April 1875. The Waterloo Library was built in the Queen Anne Victorian style and opened in December, 1883. Today, it is one of the oldest library buildings still in its original intended use in New York State and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It is a two story structure, the first floor allocated as the library, w

ith a performance hall located on the second floor. The performance hall, Fatzinger Hall, was named after Thomas Fatzinger who had donated money towards the establishment of a library in January, 1867. Recently restored, Fatzinger Hall seats 140, and hosts many programs featuring theatre productions, music, readings, and public lectures. In March of 2006, the Board of Trustees of the Waterloo Library and Historical Society began a major capital compaign project. The project allowed for some major repairs, maintenance, and restoration of the historically significant building. This included a new slate roof, the repair of the beautiful stained glass windows and the restoration of the original ornamental wrought iron perimeter fence. The exterior brick façade and brick chimneys were re-pointed and sealed, and a new handicapped accessible ramp was built. Future projects will include air conditioning and the refurbishing of the front doors of the Library. The Terwilliger Museum, an annex to the Library, was opened in 1960. Terwilliger whose will provided a substantial bequest for the purpose of establishing a museum. The Terwilliger Museum houses many collections of local history such as antique autos, Indian artifacts and 5 period rooms dating from an early log house room to the Roaring Twenties.

Little Explorers had quite a blast in the Valentine party filled with a lot of laughter and joy!

We love to see all our little Valentines gather together to have a story time fun followed by dance, crafts, goodies, balloons and much more.

Big thanks to Ms Coreen for making this party possible by filling in for Ms Krista.

Avid LEGO enthusiast, comic book ju**ie, super powerhouse of general knowledge—these are the words to describe our adorable and kind staff member, Ms Rebekah. We are so happy to announce that today she has completed four years of being with us!

Apart from her usual museum and library duties, Rebekah has taken initiatives in helping with adult program set ups, making creative book stacks, updating the glass showcase displays to bring little glimpses of the museum into the library, and much more.

Her most memorable and whimsically creative contribution is supplying an emoji head and hand to our beheaded broken book statue!

Congratulations dear Rebekah on your fourth anniversary; we love you just the way you are.
