Scott Gieske Art My background is in graphic design, so I love the interplay between colors, shapes, and textures.

Finding a balance between these design principles is the foundation for any piece of art I create.

“If you get tired, learn to rest, not to quit.” – Banksy

There’s something incredibly powerful about this simple reminder. Life has a way of knocking us down, testing our patience, challenging our confidence, and making us question whether it’s worth continuing. But being exhausted doesn’t mean you’ve failed. Feeling discouraged doesn’t mean you’ve lost. And needing to step away doesn’t mean you’re giving up. Sometimes the strongest thing we can do is recognize when we need to rest, regroup, and find the energy to keep moving forward. Progress isn’t always about pushing harder. Sometimes it’s about knowing when to pause without losing sight of where you’re going. Take a break. Catch your breath. Find your perspective. Just don’t give up on yourself.

Inspired by a passage from Dante’s The Divine Comedy, the custom artwork “Within a Forest Dark” explores the mysterious beauty of nature and the experience of being immersed in the unknown. In the poem, the dark forest symbolizes uncertainty and the loss of direction. My interpretation takes a different path. Rather than suggesting we are lost, the artwork invites us to simply exist within the forest, surrounded by its beauty, complexity, and quiet mystery. Layers of electric blues, fiery autumn colors, and fragmented trees transform a familiar woodland into something dreamlike. Light moves through shadow, and the boundaries between reality and imagination begin to blur. Perhaps life is much like this forest. We can’t always see what lies ahead, but there’s beauty in uncertainty, wonder in the unexpected, and meaning in the journey itself.

Sometimes, all it takes is a simple gesture to make a connection. The custom artwork “Howdy” explores the playful intersection of abstraction, personality, and human expression. Through a vibrant collision of geometric shapes, overlapping perspectives, and saturated colors, an unexpected character emerges, an abstract face offering what appears to be a mischievous wink. There’s something wonderfully amusing about finding such a familiar, friendly expression within a composition that seems anything but ordinary. The fragmented forms challenge our perception, while the unexpected sense of humor reminds us not to take everything, including ourselves, too seriously. At its heart, “Howdy” celebrates the joy of human connection, the beauty of imperfection, and the delightful surprises that emerge when we look at the world a little differently. Because sometimes, a wink says more than a thousand words.

Life rarely unfolds in straight lines. It is a constantly shifting arrangement of experiences, emotions, contradictions, and unexpected turns. Yet somewhere within that complexity, there is always the possibility of finding something worth smiling about. “The Optimist” explores this idea through a vibrant collision of geometric forms, fragmented perspectives, and expressive color. What initially appears to be an abstract arrangement of shapes gradually reveals something surprisingly familiar, a smiling face emerging from the visual chaos. The composition embraces imperfection, suggesting that happiness isn’t necessarily found in order, balance, or certainty. Instead, it often emerges from our ability to see beyond life’s complications and recognize the beauty within them. At its heart, “The Optimist” is a celebration of perspective, resilience, and the wonderfully unpredictable nature of being human. Because life doesn’t have to make perfect sense to be beautiful. sometimes, all it takes is a different perspective to find a reason to smile.

Reality is rarely as fixed as we imagine. What appears structured and familiar from one perspective can become something entirely different when viewed from another. The custom artwork “Shifting Perspectives” explores this idea through an intricate arrangement of intersecting geometric forms, translucent layers, and unexpected color relationships. Architectural shapes emerge, overlap, and dissolve, creating a visual environment where depth becomes ambiguous and traditional notions of space are challenged. Vibrant corals, electric blues, and saturated greens move between moments of harmony and tension, suggesting a constant negotiation between order and disruption. Nothing exists entirely on its own, every element influences how we perceive the next. At its core, the work is less about geometry than the fluid nature of perception. It invites us to question what we think we see, reconsider what we believe to be certain, and recognize that sometimes the smallest shift in perspective can change everything.

Who decides where we belong? “The Gathering” explores the curious relationship between individuality, community, and the environments we inhabit. Set against a dramatic landscape of sweeping golden architecture, an unlikely colony of penguins gathers in a place that feels both extraordinary and strangely familiar. The contrast between the natural world and the monumental, futuristic surroundings creates a surreal narrative filled with subtle humor and unexpected beauty. Each penguin appears comfortable in its surroundings, seemingly unconcerned with the absurdity of the situation. Beneath its playful surface, “The Gathering” invites us to consider how we define belonging, why we seek connection, and how easily the extraordinary can become ordinary when experienced together. Perhaps belonging isn’t about where we are, but who we find ourselves among.

Time has a way of leaving its mark on everything. My custom artwork, “The Shape of Time,” explores the beauty of transformation through layers of color, texture, and movement. Electric blues, turquoise, warm golds, and subtle earth tones flow across a landscape of intricate patterns and organic formations, suggesting something shaped over centuries yet constantly evolving. There’s an almost geological quality to this piece, as though we’re looking down on an ancient landscape carved by water, wind, and the passage of time. But look a little longer, and it becomes something entirely different, an abstract world where nature, memory, and imagination intersect. What fascinates me most is how time can be both invisible and unmistakable. We can’t see it passing, but we can see what it leaves behind. Because time doesn’t just pass, it creates.

Art has always been a powerful form of storytelling, connecting people, cultures, and traditions across generations. My custom artwork “Tribal Ritual” explores these connections through a layered composition of human figures, symbolic imagery, intricate patterns, and overlapping textures. Muted earth tones, warm golds, and rich blues create a sense of movement and rhythm, capturing the energy of shared experiences and the timeless nature of human expression. There’s something fascinating about the rituals that bring us together. Whether rooted in ancient traditions or everyday life, they help define who we are, where we come from, and what connects us. At an impressive scale, “Tribal Ritual” makes a commanding statement in this sophisticated collector’s living room, where natural materials, sculptural furnishings, and architectural details complement the artwork’s rich visual narrative. Because great art doesn’t just fill a space, it tells a story, sparks curiosity, and invites us to look a little deeper.

Nature has a way of creating its own extraordinary compositions. My custom artwork “Palmera” explores the beauty of tropical foliage through layers of vibrant green, subtle violet, transparency, and overlapping organic forms. Inspired by the sculptural shapes of palm and tropical leaves, the piece transforms something familiar into something more abstract, energetic, and unexpected. Displayed here in a spectacular modern botanical conservatory, surrounded by natural stone, warm architectural details, and lush greenery, Palmera creates a connection between art, architecture, and the natural world. I love the contrast between the artwork’s bold, expressive movement and the quiet sophistication of its surroundings. It’s a reminder that nature doesn’t need to be perfectly ordered to be beautiful. Sometimes the most compelling art is simply nature seen differently.
