Just a reminder! Our expanded Fall hours start next week. We will be open Friday - Monday, 10am-4pm until mid November.

New Fall Hours Begin in September!

Starting after Labor Day weekend, the Jefferson County Historical Society will be moving to our new Fall Hours:

Friday – Monday
10:00 AM – 4:00 PM

These expanded weekend hours will continue through mid-November, when we transition to our Winter Hours.

We’re looking forward to welcoming visitors throughout the fall, including during the upcoming North Country Art Show and our other seasonal events.

Step back in time at Brookside Cemetery!

Join the Jefferson County Historical Society on Saturday, September 26th for our annual Brookside Cemetery Historical Tour.

Explore one of Watertown’s most historic cemeteries as we travel along a 2.2-mile route, sharing the stories of some of the people, families, and history found within Brookside Cemetery.

This year, you can experience the tour either by car or on foot, with both the driving and walking tours beginning at 10:00 AM.

Admission:
$15 JCHS Members
$18 Non-Members
Children 12 & under are FREE

Tickets may be purchased in advance at the Paddock Mansion or through Eventbrite. Tickets will also be available the day of the tour by cash or check only.

Please keep in mind that the terrain throughout Brookside Cemetery varies, so comfortable walking shoes are recommended for those joining us on foot. Refreshments will be available throughout the tour.

Our 1st Annual Summer Bash starts now! Come down and see us!

📣 We’re still raising funds to help repair the historic Paddock Barn!

Built in the late 1870s, the Paddock Barn and Ice House have stood for nearly 150 years and are an important part of the Jefferson County Historical Society property. Our immediate goal is to raise the funds needed for a new metal roof to protect the building and the historic items housed inside.

We’re hoping to have the new metal roof installed before the winter weather arrives, so every donation, no matter the size, helps bring us closer to getting this much-needed work completed.

Please keep in mind that our public hours will be changing after Labor Day. Our new Fall Hours will be Friday through Monday, 10:00 AM–4:00 PM.
