Exactly ten years ago today I posted this photo to my Instagram account. I had just purchased my first drone and started an IG account called “Upabovegeorgia” to share a new perspective of Georgia with an audience. I had absolutely NO clue what the next 10 years would bring, but life is kind of funny that way.
When my first book came out I changed my account name to “chrisgreerphotography” so that people who purchased it would be able to find me easily. That name has served me well for many years, but it no longer fully reflects all of my creative endeavors. As View Finders has grown and found a large audience across the U.S., I have had opportunities to do more video production outside of the show. During this time I began to feel a disillusionment with social media, with the algorithm, and with the games I had to play to chase “engagement” and relevancy. So I shared a lot less, spent just a fraction of my time on here, and really focused on these new creative endeavors.
Fast forward to 2026 and I have a fantastic team of people working with me at my studio in downtown Watkinsville. At any given time we have five or more active projects and the team gives me the time to also focus on my professor responsibilities at Georgia College. I’ll share more about my View Finders education initiative soon.
So once again my account name has changed to reflect the content that will be shared, along with the creative world in which I spend my time. You’ll see a mix of personal photography, corporate projects, documentaries, and of course, View Finders. I will still actively run this account, but you will also see some content from my social media manager Jax who runs our View Finders account and brings plenty of creative ideas to the table. I’m not sure if my feed will be engagement and algorithm friendly, but it should better reflect everything going on in my world and hopefully will pull back the curtain a little on my creative process.
