𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁: Students of all abilities are welcome to explore their artistic identity while connecting with others in a supportive community setting. Students will be encouraged to practice their creativity through weekly projects in a variety of mediums. Each week will focus on different topic(s) and/or medium(s).

🕷️ Thank you to all the participants at Harvest Fest who stopped by the CVA booth to create glow in the dark spiders! We were floored by all the creative creepy and crawly creatures everyone made!

𝗨𝗣𝗖𝗢𝗠𝗜𝗡𝗚: Youth Ceramics: From Slab to Spin w/ Tiffany Rodriguez-Lee

𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗻: Mondays // October 12 - 26 // 4:30pm - 6:00pm

𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁: In this three-week course, students will learn how to make both sculptural and functional work through the use of basic hand-building and throwing techniques. Directed projects and creative experimentation will be encouraged as each child’s understanding of the medium evolves. The wonderful world of glazing and surface treatment will also be explored. Great for ages 6-12!

𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁: A beginning to intermediate wheel throwing class to concentrate on techniques for students to center clay, create volume, and build a simple bowl and mug forms. Learn trimming techniques, glazing practices, and gain knowledge on the clay firing process. More advanced students can use the time as open studio, and ask the instructor for help as needed. All supplies included. Great for ages 14 and older!

𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁: Instead of shopping for spooky decor at a big box store, come make your own! Students will be given an unadorned, clay closed form, then instructed on various techniques to manipulate and decorate their piece. At the end of the class, students will have created their own ceramic enclosed-form sculpture, perfect for holding candles or incense. Pieces will be fired and glazed after the date of the class, and students will be notified when they are available to be picked up. Great for ages 13 and older!

ABOUT. Midwest Seasons is a competitive exhibit presented annually at the Center for the Visual Arts since 1990. Original artwork draws inspiration from Midwest impressions and activities - the sun reflecting off the lake, the fresh scents of spring awakening, the warmth of one's hat and scarf during a snowfall, or the crisp changes as nature goes dormant in autumn. Interpretations of the season may be broad, and entries are not limited to representational works.

Stop by the Center for the Visual Arts' booth at Harvest Fest this Saturday, October 3rd from 11:00am - 1:00pm. Use clay, pipecleaners, and glow in the dark beads to create your own spider! When you're finished, take a moment to stop by our galleries right across the street!

Poetry Night at the CVA!

Visit the Center for the Visual Arts for a night of poetry with the Wisconsin Fellowship of Poets! This open mic event will feature Wausau’s poet laureate, Mai Kao Hang, readings from the 2027 Wisconsin Fellowship of Poets calendar, poetry readings from the public, and activity tables.
