FANTASTIC. Remember Reid Patterson we have talked about who was from Pineville and went on to the University of Georgia and became a 1956 Olympic hero in swimming? We have his info photo in our displays. He had graduated from Georgia and was in the service when he participated in the Olympics. Here is an interview he did.

Five days ago we reposted an article about Brandin Crawford being the 14th Region’s 2024 baseball player of the year. Brandon would go on to pitch at the University of Louisville. In total offense in a football game four teams from our 35 county area are in the top ten. Cawood leads the way with 864 yards in a game vs. Bell County. The KHSAA does not report what year that occurred. Leslie County is 4th with 778 total yards against Shelby Valley in 1965. Pikeville is 6th with 749 total yards against Johnson Central in 1973. Hazard is 10th with 740 total yards against Berea in a game in 2005.
