Have a safe Memorial day everyone. During WWI Harroun motors of Wayne did their patriotic duty and curtailed car production to make artillery shells when the US entered WWI. In this ad they promised dealers to still have cars for them, and say they are in the automobile business TO STAY. Unfortunately they couldn't really get going again after the war and went bankrupt within a few years.

This is a picture of the John H. Curtis house at 36136 Michigan Avenue, just west of Pershing. The house was a Greek revival upright and wing and dated to before 1860. John, who was a farmer and carpenter, lived here with his wife Mary and their son George until 1877. Unfortunately the only pictures we have of the house are from its intentional destruction by the fire department in 1957. There was a car wash on the site recently. There are more pictures of the practice and training fire here: https://hub.catalogit.app/wayne-historical-museum/entry/36136-michigan-ave-house-burned-for-practice?query=curtis
