Dear friends, Dean and I are in Asheville and safe. The devastation around us is jaw dropping and hard to wrap our heads around. Thank God, we are both safe and healthy but our heart keeps breaking over and over the more we hear and see what’s going on around us. We tried to get to Dean’s house in Brevard yesterday and the roads were impassable as we drove through devastating destruction. He made it there today. Both our homes in Waynesville and Brevard) are standing and we’re grateful. But it’s hard to feel anything but sad and heartbroken at all the destruction and loss. Roads and buildings washed away, huge trees… one after one uprooted and lying across roads everywhere, power lines down and most people with no power, no means of communication and many without water. We just found a store in town, whose Internet was accessible, which is why I was able to post this. Lots of work ahead. Praying for continued strength for all and that they will receive all the help they are so much in need of now. Prayers and feet on the ground are what we need here. Thank you so much to everyone who sent (or tried to send) messages. We love you all! 🙏🙏🙏❤️
