Thank you to everyone who visited Old Brutus Historical Society last Monday for Mr. Larry Bell’s presentation about “Slocum Howland, Sherwood and The Underground Railroad.” Mr. Bell is the Historian for the Howland Stone Store and Museum. It was a very interesting presentation and we learned a lot more about the Underground Railroad in Cayuga County!

As another graduation is nearing at Weedsport High School, we look back on some of the great teachers from the past and present which we were fortunate to have had!

In 1947, this group of freshman “kids” had their class photo taken for the school yearbook, the Weedsport Sparks. We were recently gifted this original photo and are happily sharing it with you! Do you know anyone in the photo? This would be the Class of 1950, the 75th graduating class from Weedsport. We have a great collection of school class photographs, dating back to the 1800’s!! Please stop by for a visit; Wednesdays from 5 pm to 7 pm and Thursdays from 10 am until noon.

Last Monday, at Old Brutus Historical Society, Mark Malys gave a very detailed presentation about the Stevens Brothers Duck Decoys that were made in the 1800’s and early 1900’s in Weedsport. Mark has given his presentation around the country and we were fortunate to host him in the hometown of the Stevens Decoys! We had a nice gathering of friends at the Museum!!
