Wenham Museum is a Museum of childhood and New England family life celebrating childhood, connecting generations and honoring heritage on Boston's North Shore for three centuries. This is your chance to name everybody's favorite horse! Our giant, life-sized horse is a new staple in the gallery, but there’s just one thing missing… a name!

We want to hear YOUR ideas! Submit your most creative, clever, or historically inspired name for a chance to see it become one of our four finalists. Until November 1, visitors will be able to vote for their favorite!

Important Update: Beginning November 1, 2026, Wenham Museum will welcome visitors Wednesday through Sunday, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

At Wenham Museum, we are always looking for ways to better serve our community while ensuring the long-term sustainability of the Museum.

After carefully reviewing visitation trends, analyzing how our spaces are used throughout the week, and gathering feedback through visitor surveys, we have made the thoughtful decision to adjust our public hours to better align with when our community visits most.

This change allows us to focus our staffing and resources during the hours when visitors are most actively enjoying the Museum, while continuing to provide the engaging exhibitions, hands-on experiences, and educational programs that families and visitors have come to know and love.

Our New Hours:
Effective Sunday, November 1, 2026
Wednesday–Sunday: 9:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m.
Monday–Tuesday: Closed

While our public hours are changing, our commitment to preserving history, inspiring curiosity, and creating meaningful experiences for visitors of all ages remains as strong as ever.

We are grateful to everyone who shared their feedback and helped inform this decision. Your continued support helps us make thoughtful choices that will keep Wenham Museum a vibrant and welcoming community resource for years to come.

Join Wenham Museum on Wednesday, November 4, from 4:00–6:00 p.m. for a special Free First Wednesday celebrating Native American Heritage Month with an evening of family, culture, and community.

Enjoy a drop in beading workshop with Sebastian Ebarb (Choctaw-Apache); storytelling, games and corn husk action figures with Annawon Weeden (Mashpee Wampanoag); hands-on activities; music; and a prize raffle.

Admission is free, and all are welcome to join us for this festive evening of learning, creativity, and connection.

🎃 Baby’s First Halloween at Wenham Museum!

Get ready to wiggle, giggle, and dance! Join us for a festive Halloween morning designed for little ones and their grown-ups, featuring a spook-tacular dance party with High Street Studios from 10–10:30 AM! 🕷️👻

Dance to festive tunes, creep like spiders, float like ghosts, and show off your best monster moves! Costumes are encouraged, and no dance experience is needed.

Enjoy even more Halloween fun with sensory play, hands-on crafts, family costume photos, a costume parade, and interactive exhibits!

Activity fee covers Halloween activities only. Museum admission is separate.

This Week at Wenham Museum!

Looking for something fun to do on the North Shore this week? Join us for hands-on history, creative activities for kids, and a special Friday lecture and historic house tour!
Wednesday, October 14: Kids can explore stereoscopes and discover how people viewed images in 3D!

Thursday, October 15: Learn about colonial clothing and try your hand at wool carding during our kid-friendly Morning Drop-In program.

Friday, October 16: Kids can create their own musical instruments using upcycled materials! Then, join us at noon for First Period Houses: Architecture of the North Shore with Ipswich Town Historian Gordon Harris, followed by a tour of our historic 1662 Claflin-Gerrish-Richards House.

🕙 Morning Drop-Ins are designed for children and take place at 10 AM, Wednesday through Friday. Friday’s adult lecture begins at noon and is included with general museum admission.
