FREE OPEN HOUSE AND PHOTO SHOOT, AUGUST 7, 2015

Frank Kammer just shared this notice about a gathering at Riley's Railhouse in Chesterton, IN, near Lake Michigan.

"The Blackhawk Railway Historical Society http://www.blackhawknrhs.org/ is sponsoring a railfan open house and photo shoot from 12 Noon until 4:00 PM (Chicago time) on Sunday, August 7, 2016, hosted by Riley's Railhouse, located 123 North 4th Street in Chesterton, Indiana. http://rileysrailhouse.com/

The Kentucky Steam Heritage Corporation (KSHCO) is preparing to restore the C&O 2716 to operation. The 2716, a 2-8-4, was known on the C&O as a "Kanawha" rather than a "Berkshire".
Read more details on the web page listed above or just click on the logo below to see the web page. They are pretty well along with preliminary plans and are looking for volunteers and donations.

KHSCO is heading up the restoration of former C&O 2-8-4 #2716. Visit this page to learn more about the effort, and to get involved

The first meeting in 2016 of Cincinnati Chapter-NRHS takes place Tuesday, February 23 (the fourth Tuesday of the month, our regular meeting night). We meet in the Library of EnterTRAINment Junction in West Chester, OH.
Looking forward to seeing all of you again.

As a reminder, there will be NO chapter meetings in December and January. If you happen to show up on meeting night either of those two months you will be all alone. (A certain person I know did exactly that a year or two ago.)

Regular meetings will begin on the fourth Tuesday in February.

Also, your chapter DUES are due NOW. Please make the payment right now before it slips your mind.

Brian Sellers has just posted a video showing passenger trains in Cincinnati. The LM&M does an equipment move, the Fireworks Train heads to The Boathouse and the AAPRCO Special moves over the Indiana and Ohio to spend a couple of days here in town.

Watch the video linked here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UiFu3hpC1Js
The AAPRCO videos begin at 14:45, including several aerial shots of the entire train. Lead unit on the train was Amtrak 156, the Phase One Heritage scheme.

If you enjoyed the video, then "Like" it on the Brian's YouTube site.
Also, feel free to follow Brian's work on his YouTube page.
Many thanks to Brian for posting these videos.
Enjoy !!

Mention of this visit to Cincinnati was made in our latest meeting. A train made up of private passenger cars will arrive in Cincinnati this Sunday, 9/29. It's enroute to St. Louis for the annual Convention of AARPCO.

The "Spirit of St. Louis Special" will arrive in Cincinnati on Sunday, 9/27 and remain here for two nights, leaving on Tuesday, 9/29.

This is a chance for us to see some wonderful private passenger cars pulled by two Amtrak P-42s.

I've shared the post found on the AARPCO Facebook site which shows the Routing and Consist of this great train.

The train will be parked on Riverside Drive, by the Boathouse, for the two nights it's here. PLEASE NOTE, you are advised to try to see the train elsewhere as there will be security that will keep you away from the train.

Hope you are able to get out and see this train.
