Did You Know?

That on September 5th, 1910, Teddy Roosevelt was in Fargo to dedicate the newly constructed Carnegie Library?

It was during this speech that the former President said this about North Dakota,
“If it had not been for what I learned during those years that I spent here in North Dakota, I never in the world, would have been president of the United States.” This cornerstone was laid at the site, and even after the library was demolished in 1964, it stayed until it was moved to Bonanzaville in 2001.

Stop in and see our display on Teddy! And ask our Facilities Manager if the stone is heavy lol

Happy Feature Friday, everyone~ This week we have this Caterpillar Holt tractor from 1925 for you. This lightweight tractor was designed so it could provide extra power for farm work, and weighs only two tons. In addition, it was good for maintaining roads. This model was sold between 1925 and 1928. In 1925, Holt had merged with the C.L. Best company, forming the Caterpillar Tractor Co.

Happy Feature Friday, everyone~ This week, we have these WWII-era newspaper headlines for you. Covering events from late 1943, when Italy surrendered to the surrender of Japan two years later, these headlines mark important events in the war, including Italy changing sides to declare war on N**i Germany, the Allied Invasion of Normandy, liberation of Paris, death of Franklyn D. Roosevelt, and more. These are only a small handful of highlights from the war which would have been front page in the latter part of the war, fighting the fascist regimes in Europe and Imperial Japan.
