ZAKA Search and Rescue is a UN-recognized humanitarian volunteer organization that provides rapid response to mass casualty disasters . Founded 30 years ago, ZAKA primarily operates in Israel, handling incidents such as accidents, drownings, terror attacks, and the burial of elders found deceased in their homes, as well as any unnatural deaths.
In Israel, ZAKA is a household name, known for its unique and vital role. Many around the world became aware of ZAKA on October 7th, when its volunteers meticulously went through every room, car, village, and town, identifying victims, conducting forensic work, collecting remains, and ensuring every last trace of blood is brought to a dignified jewish burial.
