OAKS PARK
Oaks Amusement Park in Sellwood opened in 1905 and is one of the oldest amusement parks in the country.

Oaks Park has operated as a nonprofit since 1985, yet most people don’t realize that. For these past our decades, their mission has been driven not by profit, but by the goal of creating a space for all Portlanders.”

Four climbers. One mountain. No Gore-Tex, no high techgear … just grit.

This 1910 photograph captures two women and two men making their way up Mt. Hood — long before modern trails, equipment, or even reliable forecasts.

Imagine the determination (and the boots!) Old Oregon Photos preserves moments like this — and makes them available as prints and cards to help fund the work.

Because scenes like this are gone… but not forgotten.

DOES YOUR FAMILY HAVE HISTORIC PHOTOGRAPHS OF LAKE OSWEGO AND ITS RESIDENTS? WE WANT TO SEE THEM!

If you have historic photographs from Lake Oswego, including its early residents, we'd love to see them! They may be used in an upcoming project. We're particularly interested in the 1870s-1930s, recognizable places of Lake Oswego, and people doing things (including work and recreational).

You don't have to gift them to our archives; we'd be happy to scan them and return them to you. Reach out to us by emailing [email protected], giving us a call at (503) 635-6373, or dropping by during open hours.
