Gerald Merfeld with his Mentor, Dean Cornwell.
Merfeld was Cornwell's studio assistant for mural painter Dean Cornwell in New York. He was a combat artist for the U.S. Navy in the Mediterranean and Vietnam, so many of his pieces are a part of the U.S. Navy Archives.
