So I’m bringing back Drive-By History, a quick look at the people, places, and stories that make Westlake’s past so interesting.

History doesn’t have to be complicated. Sometimes all it takes is one photograph, one house, one artifact, or one surprising fact to connect us with the people who came before us.

🍞🥣 Step Back Into 1776! 🇺🇸

Have you ever wondered what food was like during the American Revolution? Why was food in New England so different from food in Virginia? How did Colonial families cook without electricity, gas stoves, or modern conveniences?

Join us for Dining in 1776 on Sunday, June 7 at 2:00 p.m. at the Westlake Recreation Center as early American foodways enthusiast Elizabeth Greco explores the fascinating foods, cooking methods, and dining traditions of Colonial America.

Best of all, admission is FREE!

After the presentation, guests will have the opportunity to sample a few treats inspired by the Colonial era.

⚾️ Step Back in Time and Experience America’s Favorite Pastime!

The Westlake Historical Society invites you to an evening of Vintage Base Ball as it was played in the 1860s—without gloves, with gentlemanly sportsmanship, and plenty of spirited competition!

Join the Cleveland Blues as they take on the Spring Creek Club of New York on:

Bring your lawn chairs, picnic blankets, family, and friends for a fun-filled evening of history, community, and old-fashioned baseball. Watch the game played by the original rules and discover why this beloved pastime captured the hearts of Americans more than 150 years ago.
