#361 - Plan a visit the Westport Maritime Museum. The museum showcases the magnificent Destruction Island Lens which was shipped by boat to Destruction Island, north of Westport on the Washington coast. The lens was installed in the lighthouse in 1891 and operated until 1995 when it was removed by the Coast Guard and went on display at its present location. (Photo via Westport Maritime Museum)

In response to recent queries about beach combed "urns" or "Myster Jugs". The Westport Maritime Musuem has a collection as well as photos and stories. Along with our displayed items, we feature the news stories of the early 60's. Noted Long Beach Maritime historial Wayne O'Neil photographed a number of the area finds. One jug found on Copalis in the early 60's was opened by UofW and found to hold 16 lbs of ghee. Ghee is a whole other rabbit hole for anyone interested.

Great weekend for flag photos. Lighthouse is flying and will be lit as well.
