Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Ancient Burying Ground Tour scheduled for Saturday, May 23 at 10:00 am has been cancelled. Wethersfield Historical Society sincerely regrets any inconvenience and hopes that you can attend the tour on one of the other offered dates (June 20, September 5, or October 24). All other scheduled activities that are part of History Day for Families will take place.

Gentle reminder that tonight's installment of the American Revolution Program Series, "Founding Mothers" with Dr. Amanda Goodheart Parks is at 6:30 pm in the Keeney Ballroom (200 Main Street, Wethersfield). Dr. Parks will speak about the contributions made by Martha Washington, Mercy Otis Warren, Polly Cooper, and others that helped America win its independence.

Admission for the general public is $10, cash or check at the door. Current members of Wethersfield Historical Society are admitted free.

Friday night's American Revolution Program Series lecture has it all; a knowledgeable speaker in Joseph Morneault, an 18th century Wethersfield native (Moses Tryon), piracy, a high stakes, winner-take-all bid for freedom, and a killer title, "Captain Moses Tryon: Local Hero in a Global Conflict".

To anyone planning on attending Wethersfield Historical Society's Taste of Wethersfield benefit this Saturday, purchasing your tickets in advance speeds your entry into the event and saves you money. On Saturday, ticket prices jump $5.

You can buy tickets online through EventBrite or save the fees and stop by the Keeney Memorial Cultural Center (200 Main Street, Wethersfield) and pay by cash or check. The office will be open 10:00 am to 5:00 pm on Friday.

There are still a few tickets available for Wesley Broulik's one-man adaptation of Charles Dicken's "A Christmas Carol" in the historic Hurlbut-Dunham House (212 Main Street, Wethersfield). Performances are December 13 and 18 at 6pm. Audiences gather at 5:30 pm to enjoy prosecco or sweet cider, charcuterie, and the unique ambience of the house decorated for the season. This coming Saturday (October 18, 2025) at 10:00am marks the last chance this season to take Martha Smart's fascinating Ancient Burying Ground Tour. Martha is Wethersfield Historical Society's Volunteer Research Librarian and a long-time Wethersfield resident. She has an encyclopedic knowledge of the town's history and a storyteller's gift for making the past come alive.

Tours gather at the red barn in the First Church parking lot. Tours last about an hour and a half. Admission is $10 for the general public and free to current WHS members. Due to the outdoor nature of the tour, only cash will be accepted. N. B. There is no rain date for this edition of the tour. In the event of inclement weather, the tour will be canceled.
