Walls Fine Art Gallery

Walls Fine Art Gallery We recommend calling for an appointment, since a lot of what we do is showing one-of-kind artwork in Natalie’s career moved her to New York City.

Since the galleries begining in 1984, the owners David Leadman and Nancy Marshall have spent their lives passionately involved with fine art. Originally nestled in the trees of Wilmington, NC, the gallery housed truly remarkable work by local, national, and international artists as well as a conservation framing design studio and an art conservation lab run by Nancy and David's daughter, Natalie

Marshall. David and Nancy took advantage of the opportunity to move back to David’s home state of West Virginia, where the gallery is now located inside The Greenbrier Resort in White Sulphur Springs, WV. The galleries vision includes bringing high quality artwork, artists, major exhibitions, and competitions in conjunction with The Greenbrier. Providing lectures, classes, and opportunities to meet visiting world respected artists, Walls Gallery has made itself a cultural hub inside The Greenbrier. So... next visit to The Greenbrier, stop in and see us in our newly renovated space on the main Shop Corridor.

We are planning to head to Weaverville, NC tomorrow, but available to go to other areas of need as well. Please reach out to us at 910-885-1402 if you know of specific needs and areas that we can get our mule strings in to help! We can bring supplies or pack in what your group has acquired already!

"By sheer effort, you get pretty good." -CM
To compensate for garbage sound: ”When we started out…You look back at stuff, it’s awful… Another thing about being a painter, you can’t be too self-critical in the beginning. Warning: Don’t be too self-critical in the beginning. Critical, but not too self-critical, or you’ll end up being paralyzed. You won’t be able to do anything. You have to have a certain lack of self-criticism, a sort of confidence, you know, ‘what I’m doing here is pretty darned good.’ I had a certain confidence, I think, in that regard. Whereas looking back, I mean, it was terrible, but luckily I kept em going. Maybe I was stupid enough, just stupid enough to keep going. The whole thing. Not to say to myself, ‘gee whiz, this is hopeless, I’ll never get anywhere here.’ I think we were talking, Ryan and I were talking about some painters we know like that. If you saw their work ten years ago, you wouldn’t think there was any future in the guy at all! And he worked and worked and worked and worked and worked and worked, and he comes out, you know, just be sheer effort… By sheer effort, you can get pretty good. Can’t be Sargent or Sorolla by sheer effort, but you can get pretty darned good.”

Digging through the archives! Charles Movalli clip from a 2014 demo. The sound is pretty rotten and Charlie was a fast talker, so here's a transcript, more o...
