the area's mining camps. By the turn of the century, the Northern Pacific Railroad arrived, followed by the Milwaukee Railroad, and life the valley changed forever. All this can be rediscovered in the restored 1914 barn located three blocks south from the middle of downtown Whitehall. Genealogy cards are kept for those working on family history. Directions: Jefferson Valley Museum is housed in a restored 1914 barn located three blocks south from the middle of downtown Whitehall. The Museum is also Handicapped Accessible and has restrooms.

All history in Whitehall is not a happy memory. This tragic wreck happened at the RR crossing at the west end of town, on what is now Hwy 55. Truck vs train and the train won. Francis Hill donated the photo to the museum.

When Roy and Vera Milligan left our community, we held a reception at the museum to bid them a "goodbye for now". Roy left our world several years ago and just a few days ago his wife Vera joined him. She was 95.
Roy and Vera will always be remembered and missed.

Another parade down Legion, date not given. The high school band was an important part of the festivity. Our theater was still called the Jefferson; the Whitehall State Bank was on the west and the Montana Power Company office on the east. Look closely at the theater marquee and you will find two other businesses that were in the theater building at this time.
