David Potter Whitsett

David Potter Whitsett II, was born in December 1846 at Rainbow Island later called Whitsett,PA; and died on May 27th, 1925 at Monessen,PA. David served for the Union Army during the American Civil War, enlistment date May 1st, 1865, with the 16 Cavalry Volunteers and Company G. Later he would operate & own several coal mines, at Whitsett; the state of Indiana; Kentucky; & Illinois. He passed away at the age of 78, from throat cancer. His parents: Ralph Crawford Whitsett, Sr. & Rachel (Estep) Whitsett, founded the town of Whitsett,PA in the 1830s... p.s.
