Something exciting is taking shape in the Delano District. 🎨

Our students, staff, volunteers, and community partners are hard at work preparing for the unveiling of Envision Our City — a vibrant new mural on the south wall of the future Envision Arts Center, facing the Equity Bank Park, home of the Wichita Wind Surge.

Designed as a bold and welcoming landmark, this mural is more than public art — it is a declaration that art belongs to everyone, regardless of ability.

Created through collaboration with AbilityPoint, Starkey, the Boys & Girls Club, the Alzheimer’s Association, local businesses, and Hutton Construction, Envision Our City celebrates accessibility, creativity, and shared civic pride.

To mark the occasion, we’ll host a public tailgate-style celebration and mural unveiling, bringing neighbors, families, and visitors together through art and community connection.

From Gallery Alley to Wings of Wichita and the Cargill Keeper on Parade, Envision has long used public art to connect, inspire, and educate. Envision Our City continues that legacy by activating the neighborhood, honoring Wichita’s culture and history, and inviting every passerby to see themselves reflected in our city’s creative future.

Tomorrow is your last chance!

Stop by the Envision Arts Center to see Art Imitates Kyan’s Life before the end of day tomorrow.

Inspired from a young age by artists like Claude Monet and Vincent van Gogh, Kyan’s creative journey has grown into a deeply personal and community-centered practice.

Since beginning his painting journey in 2021, Kyan has become known throughout Wichita for his striking portraits of both familiar faces and everyday encounters—from friends and community members to local figures like Lily Wu and Laura Kelly.

For Kyan, portraiture is about more than creating an image—it’s about connection. He often gifts his drawings to his subjects, creating moments of joy, recognition, and shared humanity. His work reflects a thoughtful way of seeing the world—one that values presence, individuality, and meaningful human exchange.

Stop by to experience this heartfelt exhibition, and celebrate the power of art to connect us all.

Art Imitates Kyan’s Life: On view in the Patricia A. Peer Window Gallery from May 1 – May 29

Kyan Adger Hackney is a Wichita-based artist whose work centers on portraiture, connection, and a lifelong love of art. Inspired from a young age by artists like Claude Monet and Vincent van Gogh, Kyan’s creative journey has grown into a deeply personal and community-centered practice.

We took PRIDE to CityArts today and had such a meaningful and inspiring experience. 🌈✨

Located in the heart of Wichita, CityArts is a community-focused arts center that brings together galleries, working artist studios, and hands-on creative spaces all in one place. It’s a space where people of all ages and abilities can experience art up close, connect with artists, and explore their own creativity.

During our visit, we toured the galleries and spent time taking in the wide variety of exhibits, each one offering something unique to experience and talk about together. We also had the chance to peek into the artist studios, giving us a behind-the-scenes look at where the creative process happens. One of the highlights was stopping by while artists were actively blowing glass — such a cool experience to witness in the moment!

After exploring, we gathered in the main gallery to slow things down and create together, working on a small mixed media art project inspired by everything we saw. It was the perfect way to reflect, relax, and make art as a community. 💛🎨

Some of the Envision Arts team volunteered at the 2026 Fore Vision Golf Tournament today! ⛳️

This annual event brings together business and community leaders for a premier golf experience in support of Envision’s mission. More than just a day on the course, the tournament helps create meaningful impact for people who are blind or visually impaired through programs, services, employment opportunities, and community engagement.

We were proud to be part of such a fun and inspiring day alongside so many dedicated supporters. 🌟
