Frank Lloyd Wright's Allen House

Frank Lloyd Wright's Allen House House Museum - Prairie style house designed by Frank Lloyd Wright in 1916 for Henry J. and Elsie Allen, operated by the Allen House Foundation 501(c )(3).

Book your guided tour online today at flwrightwichita.org! Commissioned in 1916 and completed in 1918, Frank Lloyd Wright’s Allen House is named after its first owners, newspaper publisher Henry Allen and his wife, Elsie. It was the last of the architect’s famous brick prairie houses, which emphasized horizontal lines, earth tones and a continuous blending of interiors with exteriors. Architectura

l writers who have visited the house believe its living room is “one of the great rooms of the 20th century.” The home features more than 30 pieces of Wright-designed furniture, all of its original art glass and several new-for-their-time innovations, such as wall-hung water closets and an attached garage. Visit the site that USA Today considers one of the “10 great Frank Lloyd Wright home tours” in the nation. This beautiful home has been preserved as a museum thanks to the Allen House Foundation.

Our team of volunteer master gardeners have been working hard through the record-breaking heat this summer to ensure our gardens and grounds are still thriving.

These sweet potato vines are bursting out of the ball planters (which are all original to the house) that line the north side of the property.

Experience the gardens and home with a guided tour! Tickets and information at flwrightwichita.org.

Thank you to Wright on the Park for providing these tours and to Visit Mason City Iowa in guiding our team in their exploration of Mason City - everyone had a great time!
