Join us for a midday program with historian and author Anthony Brogdon as he presents "Good Black History" and discusses the legacy of Black business, land ownership and community building.

Brogdon is the author of "Black Business Book", "That’s My Land: The History of Black Towns and Settlements", and "They Did It", a coloring book highlighting 30 Black business owners. He’s also the host of the internationally acclaimed podcast "Strong Inspirations" and a nationally sought-after speaker.

It's that time of year again, artists! The National Afro-American Museum and Cultural Center invites you to submit work for the 11th biennial National Juried Art Show: Art of Soul! 2026.

This year’s theme, “America 250: Our Story,” calls on artists from across the United States to explore the nation’s journey through the rich lens of African American history, culture and lived experience. Whether your work reflects resilience, identity, heritage, or visions for the future, we want to see your story.

We're taking 'Queens of the Heartland' on the road!

Looking for a meaningful way to honor Black History Month in Ohio? Join us for The Tea Room at the Ohio History Center in Columbus on February 21 from 12–2 PM!

Experience an afternoon of artistic expression, storytelling, dialogue and cultural reflection while enjoying tea service from our friends at Teas Your Spirits, LLC.

This special program features a pop-up version of the Queens of the Heartland exhibit. Exhibit curator Hadley Drodge and Dayton historian and librarian Karen Brahme will lead a conversation about the vision and development behind the project. You’ll also enjoy performances by poet Cynthia Amoah and vocalist Dione Bennett.

Queens of the Heartland is a visual art exhibition celebrating 30 trailblazing Black women who shaped Ohio’s history from the 1830s to today. Curated by the National Afro-American Museum and Cultural Center in Wilberforce, the exhibition includes portraits, narratives and personal memorabilia that help tell each woman’s story.
