Gallery staff is celebrating the first day of Pride by working on the installation of our summer exhibition, Pulse Nightclub: 49 Elegies by artist John Gutowsky. This exhibition is just part of the Sordoni Art Gallery’s Summer of Pride programming series centered on remembrance, resistance, and resilience.

Please join us on Pulse Remembrance Day, June 12, 2026, at 6:30 pm for the opening of this exhibition and to attend a Remembrance Ceremony. This ceremony honors the lives lost while acknowledging the far-reaching impact of violence and erasure across q***r communities. Featuring performances by Phoenix Davis, Trixy Valentine, and Assétou Xango, the event creates space for reflection, collective mourning, and shared resilience.

✨Join us as we celebrate Pride all summer long - 🩵🩷🤍🤎🖤❤️🧡💛💚💙💜

This summer, the Sordoni Art Gallery presents Summer of Pride — a season of exhibitions, programming, and community engagement grounded in the themes of remembrance, resistance, and resilience.

At the center of this summer’s programming is Pulse Nightclub: 49 Elegies, an exhibition marking the 10th anniversary of the Pulse Nightclub tragedy through contemporary art, reflection, and acts of collective remembrance. Alongside it, OutLoud: LGBTQIA+ Visibility in NEPA celebrates the voices, experiences, and creative practices of LGBTQIA+ individuals throughout Northeastern Pennsylvania through a community-centered display of artwork, stories, and visibility.

Additional initiatives throughout the summer include:
✨ A community Rainbow Reading Room featuring LGBTQIA+ literature and resources
✨ A Pulse Remembrance Ceremony with performances by Phoenix Davis, Trixy Valentine, and Assétou Xango
✨ Drag, Community, & Resilience with RuPaul’s Drag Race’s Mrs. Kasha Davis
✨ Art in Context panel discussions focused on q***r visibility, advocacy, and community in NEPA
✨ Additional performances, conversations, and public programs throughout the season

Together, Summer of Pride creates space for reflection, celebration, visibility, and connection—affirming the importance of q***r stories, histories, and futures within our region and beyond.

Today is Wilkes University’s commencement, and we are highlighting our grads! 🎓

Lara has been an integral part of the design team and gallery staff since her start in 2022! She is graduating with a degree in Digital Design and Media Art with a minor in Art. During her time at the gallery, she has served as our design fellow, leading our team for three semesters, and created our Sordoni Sessions, an event loved by our student members. She has been a mentor and friend to all the students who’ve come through our team, and we will miss her greatly.

Congrats, Lara, and the rest of the class of 2026!! 💙💛

Today is Wilkes University’s commencement, and we are highlighting our grads! 🎓

Grace has been our resident Swiftie since her sophomore year. As part of our design team, she created the branding for our SOMA Night Lights event as well as many of the programs, posters, and graphics you’ve seen over the past few years. We are going to miss her calming presence and “we got this” attitude in moments of chaos. She is graduating with a BFA in Digital Design and Media Art with a minor in English.

Congrats, Grace, and the rest of the class of 2026!! 💙💛

Today is Wilkes University’s commencement, and we are highlighting our grads! 🎓

Emily’s signature “Emily Pink” hair has been a loved feature of the gallery since the summer of 2024! She has done it all, from community outreach events, assisting with gallery installations, design work, and, most recently, as our student curator. We will miss her and her love of cats and drag queens. She is graduating with a degree in Digital Design and Media Art with a minor in Art.

Congrats, Emily, and the rest of the class of 2026!! 💙💛

You know Colin from holding down the desk on Sundays and at the farmers market last summer. He’s graduating with a degree in Digital Design and Media Art with a minor in Games & Emergent Technology. Colin has been a staple in our team since his sophomore year. We will miss him greatly!

Congrats, Colin, and the rest of the class of 2026!! 💙💛
