There's a lot happening for this month's 3rd Friday!
September 18th 5pm - 8pm

Join us in our Members Gallery for the opening reception of the Fall Members Juried Exhibition. Come by for light refreshments, good conversation and the juried award ceremony. We appreciate all the support for our talented members!

Carolyn Harper's guest exhibit will be on display in the Maffei Gallery. Carolyn is a textile artist. Her work features hand embroidered batik and hand sewn art quilts of individuals who have been impacted by mass incarceration. Her work has a strong social justice component as she creates portraits of people or groups who have been marginalized, discriminated against, or abused.
You can listen to Carolyn talk about her portrait quilts in her WVIA radio interview with Erika Funke here: https://www.wvia.org/podcast/artscene-with-erika-funke/2026-08-18/circle-center-for-the-arts-carolyn-harper-august-18-2026

Lastly, make sure to stop in to the Art Market, which will be held outside of the main building in the "barn" parking garage. Enjoy browsing handmade goods and artwork by a lovely group of local vendors!

Reminder that all of our 3rd Friday events are free and open to the public. We hope to see you there!

Have a story to tell? A point of view to share? Or just want to try out a new type of creativity for self expression? Join us for Zine Scene, a workshop series led by Kris Kalinowski of . In pursuit of the healing powers of making something with their hands, away from a screen, they've self-published over 70 zines since 2020.

Zines (pronounced zeen, short for magazine) are self created booklets about anything you want, usually copied and distributed in small quantities, and about niche topics. They are a DIY means of self expression, a publication that you don't have to get permission from anybody to make and share.

In three separate sessions, Kris will guide you in making a folio zine, a quarter page size, and a one-sheet minizine. Come with your own ideas that you'd like to bring to life, or participate in arts & crafts practices such as collage, found poetry, image transfers, stamping, and Play-Doh printing. You'll learn about the history of zines in a supportive, inclusive environment and leave with a new appreciation for how accessible materials can be used for story telling.
