We will now be open the Saturday and Sunday BEFORE Thanksgiving as well as the Friday and Saturday AFTER Thanksgiving. 9-5 each day. I don’t know exactly when Mary Jo and I decided to host our first annual holiday boutique and art sale but we knew we wanted to expand on the interest and success generated by the Clark County art crawl over the past several years. The “barn” has been around as lo
ng as I can remember and I spent many happy days as a youth helping my uncle and grandmother milk cows whenever they brought them to their summer pasture-a tradition probably brought with them from their roots in Slovenia. The old pump house still exists as does mother’s garden and her famous asparagus patch. The cows are long gone; the milking parlor is now a cherished gathering space with a large, inviting covered deck, complete with fire pit. The views of North Mound are stunning (as is the entire surrounding area). The lean-to has been removed and replace by a future shop/studio/showroom which will be decorated for the season with a combination of handmade ornaments and Christmas joy. Holiday smells will be intoxicating. While the barn may be part of the attraction, the artisans we’ve invited to participate will be the true stars of the event. The list includes Bruce Kaupanger, a Raku inspired potter, Sharon Fujimoto, a renown glass artist, Wendel Ziegler, a local wood turner, Jerry Shoen, a wildlife inspired wood carver, his wife Bunny Shoen a basket weaver, Larry Pakiz, with his award winning maple syrup, Anna Wheeler’s wonderful toffee, Gene Reineking, stone sculpter, Mary Lee Reineking, water color artist, woodworker Randy Fox’s cutting boards and furniture, Lee Klancher of Octane Press, author, displaying his books and calendars, Sue Koehler displaying pottery and, of course, my sister Mary Jo Fox, with her water colors, scarves, and lamps and myself with wood art, furniture and photography.
