Clermont County Historical Society has a beautiful old Crazy Quilt that is a friendship quilt, or an Autograph Quilt. Not sure when it was quilted but due the fashion of the day, I'd guess around the turn of last century.
It is showing wear and tear now, the velvet pieces are losing their velvet and the silk pieces are wearing away, but it is still so beautiful.
The embroidery was very skilled and very colorful. It is one of my favorite artifacts!
One day, I listed every name on it, as best I could. Maybe there is a name on here that you would recognize. Let me know!

Pvt. William Jones, veteran of the American Revolution.
Here is a little bit of what he went through after he settled in Clermont County from Virginia.
Sorry that there is so much reading, but, it was a long darned story!

Happy Memorial Day to all from Clermont County Historical Society!
I ventured into Union Township's Veteran's Memorial Park, 906 Clough Pike, 45245, recently.
It is a lovely place to contemplate the meaning of Memorial Day.

Found a new, wonderful mystery in a Clermont County cemetery. There is so much symbolism on this tombstone in Rapp Cemetery!
I had to do a deep dive to find the meaning behind these figures.
Are you curious too? I'll talk about it and more, next Tuesday, May 26, at the Williamsburg Library, 6pm. Free and all are welcome!
Here is more about it from the library's website: https://clermont.events.mylibrary.digital/event?id=302947
They would appreciate it if you check in. ๐Ÿฉท

Rerun!
The project continues!
The search is still on for more information to prove the service of these Revolutionary War veterans and patriots.
There are still graveyards yet to find. The list is up to date as of today.
While some are buried in beautiful cemeteries, large and small, more were buried in small family cemeteries in what was a beautiful spot back on the farm somewhere. I count myself lucky when a gracious property owner can guide me to these, proud to be the guardian of heroes.

Drumroll, please. . . Here is an up-to-date -- as of December 7th 2025-- link to THE LIST of Revolutionary War veterans (142, so far) with a proven link to Clermont County.
This is a link to The Clermont County Genealogical Society's VIRTUAL CEMETERY. https://ccgsoh.org/cemeteryRecords.php?lv=R&cid=214

The Clermont County Historical Society and the Clermont County Genealogical Society have spent the last year compiling lists of names of possible veterans, and then looking for evidence of their service.

From the Clermont County Genealogical Society, "This is a virtual memorial to all patriots who lived in Clermont County. This includes individuals who gave military, civil or patriotic service to render aid in the American Revolutionโ€™s cause. We have only listed those for whom we could find primary information as proof of this service. Sources include pension affidavits, land grants, muster rolls, etc.
If their grave can be located in Clermont County, we will add photos and GPS locations of their gravesites."

This does not mark the end of our efforts. We may never get to the point where we can slam the book shut and say, "OK, that's everybody." We are still looking.

And I am still looking for these men's graves -- an additional project.

Can you help?
Cara wants to know:
What was the name of the lumber store that used to be in Batavia, and who was the family that owned the business?
It was still in business when we moved to town in 1981, but not much longer.
It was off of Main Street's entrance ramp to SR 32.
After it closed, the building became 32 Ford and is now Baxla Tractor.
