The Whitley County Historical & Genealogical Society & Museum of Whitley County, KY was established on October 3, 1996 with 16 charter members. We are located in the old L & N Depot building on the corner of Main Street and Depot Street in Williamsburg, KY. WCHGS officers are: President: Patricia Litteral Jones; Vice President: Junella Engle Hamblin; Secretary: Donna Renfro Rains; Treasurer: Br

enda Wyatt Meadors; Librarian: Mary Alice Jones Siler. Our meetings are held the second Monday of each month at 6:30 in the summer months (April - September) and 5:30 in the winter months (October - March). We do limited research for a fee of $10 plus cost of copies of documents and shipping and handling. We are open to the public on Wednesdays from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm and the first and last Saturdays of each month from 10:00 am until noon. Contact information is 606-549-7089. Our mailing address is Whitley County Historical & Genealogical Society, Inc., PO Box 536, Williamsburg, KY 40769. To submit family group sheets, articles, queries and requests for publication in the newsletter, send to the above address. Any submissions can and may be featured in future newsletters. All staff are volunteers and operating expenses are from membership fees, books sales and donations from the public.

Last yearโ€™s Heritage Day was such a wonderful success, and weโ€™re excited to welcome everyone back for another memorable homecoming celebration. Bring your family, friends, and neighbors to enjoy a day filled with fellowship, stories, and local heritage.

The first certified female deputy to be sponsored by the Whitley County Sheriffโ€™s Department to graduate the police academy in the departmentโ€™s history did so last Thursday in Frankfort.
