Juan Arturo Osorio, Psychological Abuse, 2015

"Families are the nucleus of our societies. Domestic violence within the family causes damage to the emotional and social lives of the women. It creates considerable disruptive repercussions, such as the disintegration of social and individual values, the dissolution of the nuclear family, and the rise in crime. As members of society, we must consider how our behavior influences our children and those around us."

Juan Arturo Osorio is a Mexican graphic designer based in Puebla. Osorio often infuses his projects with socio-political themes and cultural narratives. His creative approach combines meticulous attention to detail with experimental techniques, producing designs that range from bold, concept-driven posters to intricate 3D lettering and set pieces. Osorio’s portfolio includes works addressing issues such
as gender violence, environmental awareness, and immigration.

Exhibition ends Friday, April 17 at 4 p.m.

Nancy Hom, Catalina’s World, 2011

“This poster was commissioned for the traveling exhibition ‘New World Border’ on how artists view the issues created by the Mexican/U.S. border wall. My parody of Andrew Wyeth’s Christina’s World shows the contrast between the two women and how we perceive them. In his famous painting, Wyeth depicts his neighbor in Maine, who, crippled by polio, is physically challenged but has a strong spirit that helps her conquer her situation. In my Catalina’s World, a Mexican woman is depicted in her challenge to cross the Mexican/U.S. border, but no one praises her extraordinary spirit and will. Instead, she is met with threats of deportation or death.”

Nancy Hom is a San Francisco-based visual artist, writer, and cultural organizer whose work spans over five decades of art and activism. Through silkscreen posters, illustrations, installations, and mandalas, Hom has used design as a tool for social change, addressing themes of identity, immigration, women’s rights, and community resilience. Her art emerged from the Asian American movement of the 1970s and continues to reflect a deep commitment to equity and cultural affirmation. Her work has been exhibited internationally and is held in major collections, including the Smithsonian American Art Museum and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.

Lex Drewinski, Double Work, 2014
"Working mothers have no choice but to juggle long working hours while caring for their families, often without adequate support systems."

Lex Drewinski is an internationally acclaimed poster artist and graphic designer known for his minimalist, concept-driven approach and sharp visual wit. A graduate of the State Academy of Fine Arts in Poznań, where he studied under Waldemar Świerzy, Drewinski began his career in Poland as a designer and director at the Animated Film Studio before emigrating to West Berlin in 1985. He later became Professor of Graphic Design at the University of Applied Sciences in Potsdam, and currently teaches at the Academy of Art in Szczecin. Drewinski’s work is often described as ‘subtractive design,’ and uses reduction and symbolism to address themes of power, censorship, and human rights. He has received more than 200 awards, such as the Grand Prix at the International Triennial of Stage Poster, Gold Medal at the Biennial of the Poster in Mexico, and Golden Bee Award. His art is held in major collections, including the Museum für Gestaltung Zürich, the Poster Museum at Wilanów, and the Center for the Study of Political Graphics in Los Angeles.

The exhibition ends on Friday, April 17!
