Along Old Sudbury Road in Lincoln, Massachusetts, an unexpected sight appears in an open field: a cluster of rocking horses and toy ponies standing quietly together, known locally as Ponyhenge.
Over time, the collection has grown and subtly rearranged itself, with the horses occasionally shifting positions for reasons no one has ever confirmed. The anonymity behind who places and moves them has become part of the site’s quiet appeal, turning an ordinary roadside stop into a small local mystery.
In winter, fresh snow gives the scene an even more surreal look, with the ponies rising out of the white landscape like a frozen tableau. It’s a brief stop, but one that captures New England’s fondness for the strange, the playful, and the unexplained.
