My name is Jolyn Bass, I am a full-time Elementary Art Teacher in Rocky Mount, NC! I graduated from Pitt Community College in 2015 with Associate in Fine Arts degree. I graduated from East Carolina University majoring in University Studies with an Art Minor in 2017. I opened my own art studio – A Blank Canvas in Wilson, NC in 2015.

I’ve always loved fall. This Fall has brought immense pain and sadness to my family and I.

The season of Fall will look different for the rest of my life. Honestly every season will.

I’m still keeping faith that God works for the good of those who love Him.
I’m still looking for the beauty in the small things.

This is the piece I submitted for this year’s Mum’s the Word exhibition in New Bern.
“A Mum Mindset”

Reflecting now on the name I gave my painting just days before the worst day of my life.

Mindset changes everything. I want to be an advocate for Mental Health Awareness.
