Old School Museum Winchester The museum preserves and displays artifacts related to local history, agriculture, transportation, communication and public education.

Providing a glimpse into the past of Scott County, Old School Museum offers the visitor a view of the history of the area and a link to their ancestors. There is a great collection of interesting and unique items gathered from the businesses and society of early Scott County.

This is a photo of a showboat docked at Naples. They were either greeted by a band and a couple of men on horseback or that may have been their traveling retinue. In the early 1900's showboats went up and down the river, stopping at towns along the way to put on a show and entertain the folks.

Just for fun I put some of Norma Korty’s steamboat pictures in a shadow box. Her uncle was Captain C. E. Schermerhorn (shown) who piloted steamers up and down the Illinois River for more than 40 years. He would visit her family when he docked in Naples.
