The Windber Area Museum

The Windber Area Museum Membership is $8.00 pr yr. join and help us in PRESERVING AND PRESENTING THE HISTORY OF THE WINDBER AREA AND THE PEOPLE WHO HELPED TO CREATE IT.

Preserving the earliest home, the David J. Shaffer home built in 1869, on land that is now the Borough of Windber. We plan to have a Heritage Room in the Windber Museum where we can preserve the history of the town and the surrounding areas and research the genealogy of the early families keeping them on file so researchers can find their ancestors. We have a collection of the Windber High School

year books and old pictures of the area and people along with many pictures of the sporting activities and players of Windber.

I am happy to finally give this information that the Windber Area Museum face book page has a new editor. As they always say "ask a busy person to do something and they will do it" and that surely fits Roxann Newcomer. She is the editor for the newsletter and is now going to be in charge of the museum FB posts. She will be informing you of the events and happenings at the museum so watch for her messages. You can contact her at her email - [email protected] or call her at 814-467-9193. Thank you Roxanne, from past editor -admin. Patricia Durst Shaffer.

I am posting my last message, reluctantly, for the Windber Area Museum. I do not know if they have found someone to continue the work. I wish them good luck. I honestly will miss the museum research. I pray I have served well in helping others learn about the history of our area, the people, and events. I will continue as a certified genealogist-historian, it is a labor of love, please feel free to contact me on my fb page or email me - [email protected]. Please support the work of the Windber Area Museum. Send all questions concerning the museum activities to Norettta Haydu, ( 467-8662) Pres.of the all volunteer organization.

I just want to remind you I will no longer be posting pictures and stories as the museum historian, I will be posting on my own fb page so look for me there.
