Arts Ensemble Education Foundation began in 2005 with three founding artists; Karen Retana, Richard Powers, and Buddy Sears and supported entirely by the owner of CitraSource, Niv BenYehuda. In October 2006, Jane Waters Thomas was hired to begin marketing for the three artists and their work. Quickly the Education Foundation was formed and classes began. A small class of 2 or 3, led to workshops a
nd eventually outreach in the community started. In 2009 Arts Ensemble was fortunate to work with USF, The Alzheimer's Association, and resident Artist Richard Powers on a project that would forever change the direction of the AEI organization and give permanence to the importance of healing via availability of art, instruction, and escape. Through this project we were host to the "Meet Me at The Gallery" Reception and Show where Special Guest, Amir Parsa, New York Museum of Modern Art, best described what our outreach had become as a healing arts organization and from there we began developing the Arts Ensemble Healing Arts Center. The term “healing arts” means many things to many people and changes from region to region throughout the world. At Arts Ensemble it simply means to touch your heart, mind, body, or spirit through the creative process expanding individual possibilities in life.It is a balanced blend of visual arts, music, and Eastern Healing Art philosophies in one center. You'll not find a clock in our gallery, studio space, the loft, or any of the private art studios because time here belongs to our clients and the artists that call our center home. We work with individuals ranging in age, ability, need, and desire. We provide classes and workshops that include painting, drawing, graffiti technique, yoga, journaling, Sage-ing, and many privately offered programs that fit well within the scope of healing. We are home to the Gulf Coast Chapter Alzheimer's Association and our office spaces are frequently used for group meeting, sessions, and private counseling by medical associations, artists, cultural arts groups, and community leaders. Arts Ensemble Education Foundation and Healing Arts Center works with the Our Children’s Academy, The Alzheimer’s Association, local hospitals, HOSPICE, USF/Poly Tech, Eloise Resource Center, and Peace River to provide artists, healing arts programming, and creative escape experiences through strategic programming and partnering efforts.
