Welcome, Spring!
The tulips are in full bloom at Metcalf Square. Enjoy them and stop in at the Winthrop Public Library & Museum to check out the new seed library! 3 packets of seeds are available per family. And then you can contribute back to it next season. Ask a librarian for details. And while we're talking spring planting, check out the little gardening section at Bookends, the secondhand book store in the lower level of the library. We have some great books for those looking to spruce up their outdoor spaces. You may like to browse our collection of cookbooks for fresh spring recipes as well. Most books just 50 cents to $1 each. Proceeds go towards supporting our library. 🌱🌷

It's cold out, but readers remain readers in every season! 😊
If you're looking for a new read, come see what Bookends has to offer. Just visit the lower level of the Winthrop Public Library & Museum where we run a secondhand book sale all year. Adult hardcovers $1 each, paperback and children's books just 50 cents each, jigsaw puzzles $2 each. Bring cash and pay at any of the library circulation desks. Proceeds go towards supporting our beloved local library. 🩷

Grab yourself a cup of something warming, grab a book, and enjoy a winter read.
We have lots of great fiction for just $1 per title: vintage and classic books, intriguing mysteries, delightful romances, and daring adventures. In our non-fiction range we have plenty of history, biographies galore, and some fascinating titles on military topics.
We've set out some winter-themed children's books on our featured book cart in the middle of Bookends. Children's books only 50 cents each!

Find us in the lower level of the Winthrop Public Library. Purchases can be paid for at any of the library circulation desks. (Bring cash!)

Books make great gifts in the holiday season!
We have Hannukah and Christmas books at Bookends. Come find our holiday display.
We also have a shelf of little gift books that make great stocking stuffers. Plus jigsaw puzzles for those looking for inside activities this winter.
Prices range from 50 cents to $2. Bring cash and pay at any of the library circulation desks. Bookends is a non-profit run by our local volunteers to benefit our library.

Reading season has started!
Ah, you're right... it started a long time ago, and it never ends. 🤓

We have some nice new arrivals you can browse. Just come down to Bookends and look for the shelf closest to our donation/sorting counter. There's a side for fiction and a side for non-fiction. Nothing is alphabetized there (that's for when they're organized into their long-term shelving spaces) so it's a fun lucky dip to see what new titles have crossed our counter.

Bookends has gotten some donations of comic books lately, some for the little kids, some for the late teens/grown-ups (a bunch from the Walking Dead series!)
They're hiding out in the side room of Bookends - the one with the comfy chair - lower level of the Winthrop Public Library & Museum. Grab a stack at just 50 cents each, pay with cash at any of the circulation desks in the library, and enjoy! 🧟‍♀️🧟🧟‍♂️
