Some paintings come from imagination.
Others come from moments you’ll never forget.
“Cub Scouts” was inspired by a real experience Bob had while walking in the woods with a friend.
As they made their way through the trees, they suddenly spotted two bear cubs that scampered up a nearby tree — this very scene unfolding right in front of them.
For a moment, there was nothing but awe.
Then came the realization:
“Where’s mom?”
Not wanting to find out the hard way, they slowly and carefully backed away — one walking forward, the other walking backward — keeping a watchful eye on the woods around them.
Thankfully, everyone made it out just fine.
What makes this piece so unique is that it doesn’t rely on bold colors to capture your attention.
Instead, it pulls you in with texture, detail, and curiosity.
The weathered bark. The twisting branches. The way the cubs peek out from behind the tree, almost as if they’re watching you as much as you’re watching them.
It’s quiet, understated, and incredibly easy to get lost in.
