Due to a water leak in the Heritage Village complex, we have to close the Village and the Pickett House today. We hope to be reopened tomorrow to serve you. Please check back for updates on this matter.

As the school year ends, you might be thinking of ways to entertain your children or grandchildren during the summer. Come out to Heritage Village for a fun learning experience. Walk through our pioneer village and explore buildings and artifacts depicting life as it was in rural east Texas a century or more ago. Bring a picnic lunch to eat on the grounds or enjoy a delicious meal at the Pickett House Restaurant while you are here. The Museum and store are open from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. daily (except on major holidays). Call us at (409) 403-2025 for additional information. We hope to see you soon!

Good news! The Pickett House Restaurant will open Sunday, May 3rd, at 11:00 a.m., and the Heritage Village Museum and Store will open at 9:00 a.m., per our usual schedule. We apologize again for the inconvenience today as we worked to repair the water leak, and appreciate your patience and understanding.

URGENT NOTICE: The Heritage Village Complex is currently closed due to a major water leak that has interrupted operations. We are working diligently to address the situation and hope to re-open by the end of the day on Saturday, May 2nd. We do not know how long the repair will take. Please call the Village at (409) 403-2025 and/or the Pickett House at (409) 403-2030 before traveling to the Heritage Village Complex in Woodville. The Tyler County Heritage Society seeks a custodian/groundskeeper/maintenance person to proactively monitor and maintain the cleanliness, safety and functionality of indoor and outdoor spaces within the Heritage Village complex.

The successful candidate for this part-time position (25 hours/week at $12/hour; no benefits) will be able to make simple repairs throughout the complex (indoors and outdoors), use lawn care equipment and cleaning supplies, and be able to move heavy objects. This position reports to the Board of Directors of the Tyler County Heritage Society.

If you wish to be considered for this position, submit a letter of interest and current resume with references to the attention of: President, Board of Directors, Tyler County Heritage Society, and deliver to the Heritage Village Museum Store in person between 9 am-3 pm any day of the week. We hope to see you tomorrow at Festival of the Arts and Dinner on the Grounds! We will start serving dinner at 11:00 a.m. Adult (12 and up) meal tickets are $12 and child tickets (ages 3-11) are $6. The Tyler County Art League will be there, and there will be a silent auction as well. At 1:30 p.m. there will be a tour of the Clyde Gray House Museum. We invite you to spend time walking around the Village before or after you eat. Don't miss the kickoff event of the Tyler County Dogwood Festival!

This special exhibit proudly showcases all 82 Dogwood Queens, along with rare historical photographs—including the iconic Queen’s float drawn by two white horses and a covered wagon pulled by a sturdy pair of oxen. It’s a vivid glimpse into our county’s past and a celebration of the people and traditions that make Tyler County unique. Come visit and rediscover the stories that shaped our community.

Announcing: A Silent Auction has been added to the Dinner on the Grounds and Festival of the Arts to be held this Sunday, March 22nd at 11:00 a.m. at Heritage Village. Meal tickets are $12 for adults and $6 for children ages 3-11. Tickets are available for purchase in advance at Sullivan's Hardware, the Allan Shivers Library, the Tyler County Booster, the Heritage Village Museum Store and the Pickett House Restaurant. Tickets will be available at the gate. We hope to see you there!
