With the start of the new school year well underway, the Town of Wytheville Department of Museums education staff is getting busy with programs! Museum education staff recently visited first and second grade classes at Spiller Elementary with a Needlework and Tapestry Program. Students made their own needlepoint creations and learned about the Virginia Tapestry – currently on exhibit at the Muscarelle Museum of Art in Williamsburg. The Virginia Tapestry focuses on the history of the Lead Mines in Wythe County. Weekends in Wytheville is back! New look, same local charm!

Downtown Wytheville is always the place to be during the weekends. Start your weekend early on Thursday with your family at Young Readers with the Wythe Grayson Regional Library, or learn something new at trivia night with Seven Sisters Brewery or by checking out our local Wytheville Museums. Then, on Friday, grab some drinks at Ghost Light Bourbon Bar for Silent Spirits or listen to Jarid Reedy at 7 Dogs Brewpub. On Saturday, start your morning at the Wytheville Farmers Market, then enjoy some live music at Petals of Wytheville or mahjong & brunch with urban smith. WyvaCon is also this Saturday from 10a-6p, and is sure to have plenty of fun for the whole family! Don't miss it while it's here! Finally, close out jam-packed weekend with SINGO! on Sunday with Seven Sisters Brewery.

Educators from the Town of Wytheville Department of Museums provided workshop sessions for the annual EduPrep August 4 at Wytheville Community College. Wythe County Public School teachers were given information about programming offered by the education staff as well as opportunities to schedule field trips and tours at the museums.
