Yardley Historical Association Responsible for Old Library by Lake Afton, acquires and preserves collection of Yardley historical materials, and sponsors variety of educational programs.

The Yardley Historical Association, with headquarters in the Old Library by Lake Afton, maintains a collection of primary and secondary materials, including maps, photographs, newspapers, letters, deeds, and ephemera, related to the Yardley area. The Yardley Historical Association sponsors a variety of educational programs. Local history and special interest topics are featured at general membersh

ip meetings. Seasonal events take place in June and December. The public is invited to all general meetings and special programs. The Association also conducts tours of historic Yardley and provides speakers for school and community groups.

Yes, there once were white ducks living at Lake Afton. According to a 1972 report, they were called "Pecans." They were flightless, adapted to farm life, and the ones at the Lake were dependent upon humans, especially in the winter. .
This photo was taken in 1960. And now you know, why the "I Brake for Ducks" bumper stickers were very popular.
