Since opening in 2015 the circle has widened & now more than half our artists are members of local community! RESIDENCY: US+U offers a 2-3 month residency to artists working in painting, sculpture, drawing, video/interdisciplinary media or any combination of the aforementioned. Each artist is granted a free non-living studio space, & access 5 days a week. (Hours TBD) Artists will submit an applic
ation form that requires scope of project idea/summary of work to be completed during the residency, medium and materials used. Artists are expected to work in the studio a minimum of 16 hours per week and participate in an open studio as well as our public precollege workshop program. *Artist will teach 2 free 3 hr workshops based on their own artistic practice while they are a part of the program. At the end of the residency, an exhibition of the artists’ work is presented in the gallery. application. INTERNSHIP: Urban Studio Unbound is immediately seeking interns for an artist run gallery in downtown Yonkers. Gallery is due to open to the public in Oct 2015 as part of a community development project. Position Overview: Interns will have the opportunity to participate hands on with this new start up & will work directly with artists & gallery administration. Daily tasks could include- social media/ website management; posting exhibition call for entries, organizing artist images/ assistance creating online artist profile/inventory; grant research; artwork intake; general assistance during curatorial process; exhibition admin; helping to set up reception and/or working at reception. Interns may also do tasks like helping to install or de-install exhibitions which includes patching and painting. US+S will also run pre-college art workshops and interns may opt to participate as assistants in the event teaching is of interest to them. The position is unpaid, but interns are eligible to earn college credit. Interns may also have the opportunity to exhibit their artwork free of gallery membership fees. *Everyone working at the gallery is a volunteer.
