Before they became part of an exhibition, they were a gift.

Walt Disney was famously fond of Mary Blair's artwork. Mary gifted Walt and Lillian with these portraits of Peruvian children, based on sketches made in Peru in 1941.

They were given the rare distinction of being displayed in Walt and Lillian’s Los Angeles home, and the exhibition in Yountville includes the original frames.

Mary Blair's iconic portrayals of children in It's a Small World and her various works achieve universality through a modernist and emotionally resonant style, blending vibrant, non-naturalistic color palettes with simple, geometric shapes. These children convey a sense of innocent, universal joy that transcends cultural boundaries.
