Carol Corey Fine Art Carol Corey Fine Art closed its gallery space in Kent, CT in June 2025

Carol Corey Fine Art was established in the spring of 2020, when Carol Corey relocated from New York City to Kent, CT. On March 1, 2022, the gallery moved within the Kent Barns complex to a new space at 6 North Main Street. Prior to her recent move, Carol worked with her friend and business partner Renato Danese in the operation of their gallery Danese/Corey in Chelsea, NYC. With over thirty years

experience in the field of contemporary art, Carol Corey will be focusing on a select group of artists. She will also continue to offer advice and assistance to new and experienced collectors in the acquisition of contemporary paintings, works on paper and sculpture.

This is the final weekend of Roz Chast’s exhibition, on view through Sunday, June 8.
It is also the gallery’s last show. My heartfelt thanks to the artists, collectors, curators and visitors who have supported the gallery. It has been a wonderful five years in Kent. On to new ventures!

The title for the exhibition “Hazy Shade of Winter” was inspired by the Simon & Garfunkel song, on a dreary day in the end of January. Things were looking pretty desolate, on many levels, and I kept thinking of time — and hope — slipping away. The lyrics felt very appropriate: “Time, time, time, look what’s become of me.... Look around, leaves are brown, and the sky is a hazy shade of winter ...

Hang on to your hopes, my friend
That’s an easy thing to say
But if your hope should pass away
Simply pretend
That you can build them again...”

With luck— and perseverance— winter’s darkest hour is a sign that spring is on its way and we can find a way to build again.

In view through March 23, 2025
