THE DAY WE’D RATHER NOT TALK TOO LOUDLY ABOUT 😬
368 years ago, on 6 September 1658, something happened we’d rather forget: the Swedes took over Kronborg.
To mark the occasion, two of our castle hosts have recreated how it might have happened… with a little artistic freedom, of course 🎭
After three weeks of siege, the Danish garrison was forced to surrender the castle. The Swedes had around 3,000 men against Kronborg’s roughly 400, and after heavy bombardment, parts of the fortress were badly damaged.
Kronborg remained in Swedish hands for almost two years, but luckily, they didn’t stay forever 😉
Happy anniversary, Sweden. We’ve moved on… almost 👀
