πŸ›οΈ Would you dare to relieve the Games of ancient Greece?

From 21–23 November, the first meeting of the Youth Advisory Board (YAB) brought together 10 young Europeans in Greece guided by Diadrasis, with the expertise of Laura - Melpomeni Tapini , Lydia Drolia, and Kornilia Chalkidi.

What could have been just another guided tour to the Site πŸ“Archeological Site of Nemea, became something entirely different. At Sites, we don’t just show you heritage locations:

π—ͺ𝗲 π—Άπ—»π˜ƒπ—Άπ˜π—² π˜†π—Όπ˜‚ π˜π—Ό π˜€π˜π—²π—½ π—Άπ—»π˜π—Ό π—Άπ˜.

The YAB entered the ancient stadium, the very place where the Nemean Games have been revived every four years since 1996, thanks to archaeologist Stephen G. Miller. There, they experienced a taste of this non-commercial, community-driven reenactment, where participants:

πŸƒ run barefoot on the ancient track, wearing tunics
πŸ‘©β€πŸ¦° πŸ‘¨ race in age and gender groups
πŸƒ receive palm branches and wild celery crowns
πŸ‡ celebrate afterward with the local community

YAB’s symbolic re-creation echoed the same spirit:
➀ A celebration of shared humanity rather than competition
➀ A living re-enactment of ancient values that still resonate across .

"Nemea’s Archeological Site is a space archaeological research and critical reflection are in dialogue." Love this initiative so much! Kudos to the Diadrasis team and thanks to the European Heritage Label for keeping Nemea at the forefront of international cultural heritage dialogue and progress.

Nemea Center affiliates making new discoveries at Mycenae!

Within a storage room in the citadel walls (pictured) of the ancient Greek city of Mycenae, archaeologists have identified fossilized bones of the two-horned rhinoceros, which were widespread in Eurasia before going extinct within the last 100,000 years. The discovery provides evidence that fossil hunting began in the Late Bronze Age (ca. 1600–1050 B.C.).

Archaeologists continue to unearth frescoes covering the walls of Pompeii’s homes across the ancient Roman city buried by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in A.D. 79 even after more than 200 years of excavations. This includes the newly unearthed black room in Pompeii’s Regio IX, which features a painting of the priestess Cassandra, one of the figures from the Trojan war.
