Today we mourn the loss of photographer, educator, innovator, and friend Jeff Schewe.

For decades, Jeff shared his extraordinary talent, technical brilliance, and generous spirit with photographers around the world. A pioneer in digital imaging and fine art printing, he helped shape the tools and workflows that countless photographers rely on today while never losing sight of the artistry and humanity behind the image.

Jeff was an inductee into the Photoshop Hall of Fame, recognized for his pioneering role in the development and advancement of Adobe Lightroom and modern digital imaging workflows. His influence can be found not only in his own remarkable photography, but also in the tools, techniques, and creative possibilities embraced by photographers everywhere.

He was also a founding member of the International Photography Hall of Fame’s International Advisory Council and a treasured friend of IPHF. We were honored to work with Jeff on lectures and workshops, most recently during the outstanding program he presented at the 2025 Hall of Fame Induction event in Indianapolis.
Beyond his immense accomplishments, Jeff was known for his willingness to share knowledge, mentor others, and encourage photographers at every level. Whether working with fellow artists, students, or software developers, he approached every challenge with curiosity, generosity, and passion.

Jeff’s images, teachings, writings, and kindness leave a lasting mark on the photographic community. He will be deeply missed, but his generous spirit and remarkable legacy will continue to inspire generations of photographers to come.
Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and the worldwide photographic community today.

Most people have seen this photo.

Few know the sacrifice behind it. 🇺🇸

The raising of the flag on Iwo Jima became one of the most iconic images in American history, a symbol of courage, unity, and resilience during World War II.

But behind that moment were real people, real families, and lives that would never return home.

This Memorial Day, we remember the men and women who gave everything for something greater than themselves.

Honor them. Remember them. Never forget.

Great photography isn’t about having the perfect camera.

It’s about noticing what everyone else misses.

Elliott Erwitt captured humor, emotion, irony, and humanity in the simplest moments, reminding us that timeless images come from observation, not perfection.

Stop chasing the gear and start chasing the story. 🎞️

David Burnett has spent decades capturing history by following a simple set of rules. Swipe to see how he prioritizes the “eye” over the tech:

- Mindset over Machine: Your perspective matters more than having the newest camera; start shooting with intention.

- The Feeling First: Prioritize the human moment because emotion will always beat technical perfection.

- Break the Rules: Experiment relentlessly, as the “wrong” technique can often result in your strongest work.

- The Wait: Photography is as much about awareness as it is timing, be patient enough to see what others miss.

Which of these changes how you’ll shoot this weekend? Let’s talk below. 👇

Swipe for 4 timeless lessons from Paul Caponigro on shifting your perspective from the technical to the soulful:

-Feel over Technique: Technical perfection lacks meaning without emotional depth.

-Observe Deeply: Patience reveals the details others miss.

-Shape with Light: Light creates emotion more than the subject itself.

-Embrace Mystery: Leave room for the viewer to interpret your story.

What separates good photographers from unforgettable ones?

Brandon Woelfel built a style you can recognize in seconds, and that’s not luck.

It’s experimentation, consistency, and seeing the ordinary differently 👀

Steal these lessons. Apply them. Watch your work change.
