The Grootvadersbosch Conservancy was proudly represented by Sibella and Jessi at the Lumenosity Festival ✨

What an incredible opportunity to showcase how conservation and creativity can come together. In collaboration with Magpie Art Collective, we transformed alien invasive plants and waste materials found in Barrydale into something meaningful. The Spaanseriet Tree (2026) is more than an installation; it’s a story of renewal and saving the Tradouw Redfin. 🌿 🐠

Using Spanish reed, recycled PET bottles, and found materials, the piece highlights the delicate balance between invasive and indigenous species, while celebrating the restoration of our landscapes and rivers. ♻

From illuminating branches to a shoal of Redfin swimming beneath fairy lights, this artwork reminds us that what we remove from nature can be reimagined into something powerful.
