For Sahlah Davids, the meticulous process of making is deeply connected to ritual and inherited gestures.
โA lot of people say [meticulous] to me, but often it feels quite emotive. Thereโs this kind of innate practiceโฆ itโs quite a ritual, you know, watching my grandmother and my grandfatherโฆ the way they would nip and tuck and how they would do things, even though I had no understanding of what they were doing, it was innate, kind of, this practice. And similarly, the way I kind of bead things together, itโs that kind of motion.โ
