🎨 "How do you paint the feeling of a memory?"
Right now in the studio, I’m working on a new encaustic diptych. Instead of painting a literal landscape, I want to capture the elusive feeling of remembering one
To do that, I’m building the surface in wax layers, then burying parts of them again—scraping, obscuring, and revealing. I want the water, light, and vegetation to appear and disappear rather than describing them too clearly.
The hardest part is always knowing when to stop. I want to leave just enough behind for your eye to find its own way through the painting.
