More than an artwork - a narrative.

Created as part of the Kunye Colab collection, the Zendaya Mohyo draws inspiration from traditional African ceremonial face markings - symbols of identity, spirituality, and cultural belonging passed through generations.
In celebration of Africa Month, the work honours the beauty of African heritage and the sacred visual languages that continue to shape contemporary African expression.

Endearing Wonders that Twinkle

Endearing Wonders That Twinkle is a moving tribute by Mpho to resilience, innocence, and the quiet brilliance of childhood. It portrays a young boy with vitiligo whose life began under deeply difficult circumstances, shaped by fear, misunderstanding, and harmful superstition.

Yet this work is not centred on hardship. Instead, Mpho turns our gaze toward the miracle of survival and the radiant spirit of a child who continues to meet the world with joy. He plays, chases bubbles, laughs freely, and lives fully in the wonder of the present moment.

Through this tender portrait, Mpho reminds us that children are not defined by what has been taken from them, but by the light they carry within. It is a celebration of wonder, courage, and the enduring ability to twinkle despite all odds.

Mapalo (TR)additions VI

Mapalo stands in the middle of two worlds. One of old traditions carried with generations and displayed in a softness that feels rooted in deep histories. The beads around her neck speak of inheritance, which cannot be priced. Her face paint is uneven and imperfect but has a feeling of belonging. Mapalo carries her history with love and pride.

Draped across her shoulder is a Louis Vuitton scarf, sharply rendered and feeling foreign. It is slightly frayed, which reveals the tension between the old and the new. It has a different kind of value.
Mapalo stands with confidence, holding both worlds, but asks what is truly owned and what is merely worn.

A Cake all to Myself โ€“ Mpho

a Deeply personal work by Mpho, created in remembrance of two young girls who faced brain cancer with extraordinary courage and joy. Rooted in grief, love, and memory, the piece reflects on intimate moments shared in their final days - where childhood wishes remained beautifully simple: ice cream for one, and a birthday cake made just for herself.

One of the girls, Sisi, held a particularly close place in Mphoโ€™s life, like family. Through these memories, the work holds onto what remains most vivid - the laughter, the tenderness, and the unexpectedly funny, heartbreaking strength of a child asking for โ€œa big birthday cake for me onlyโ€ฆ no one else, not even Uncle (the doctor).โ€

This painting is not about loss - it is about those moments.
The ones we hold onto.
The ones that make them live on.
